One operator.
Two operating modes.
Most operators are good at half the job. Creative without rigour ships beautiful flops. Rigour without creative ships dashboards nobody opens. The dual mode is the unlock.
Creative
The side that imagines the platform before it exists.
Half of operator work is invention. Naming the thing, choosing the wedge, finding the unfair distribution. This is where I sketch decks at 2am, debate the brand voice with myself, design the logo and write the manifesto. The point is taste — most products feel generic because nobody fought for the details.
Every platform starts as a story. I write the founding memo before the first line of code.
Mark, palette, type, motion. The first impression compounds for years.
The micro-decisions: which screen comes first, what the empty state says, how the cursor blinks.
Launch theatre, content arcs, community design. Attention is the scarcest resource.
- →Operator memos for TheCrest.ai, ExcBrand.ai, getasearch.com
- →Brand systems shipped end-to-end (mark, type, motion, voice)
- →Long-form essays and architectural blueprints
The work happens in the overlap.
Creative alone makes a brand book and a stalled funnel. Beautiful, unmeasured, slowly forgotten.
Analytical alone optimises the wrong thing perfectly. A dashboard nobody loves and a product nobody remembers.
Invent the thing, then instrument it. Write the manifesto, then write the eval suite. Design the hero, then run the cohort. That's the whole job — and that's how I work.
